Obituary of Clarence Loftis

Clarence Earl Loftis IRMO: Graveside service for Clarence Earl Loftis, 87, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC, with Full Military Rites. The service will be officiated by Rev. Robert Jumper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Lexington Baptist Church, 116 Brevard Pkwy., Lexington, SC 29073. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Loftis, widower of Lula Athalinda Loftis, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011. Born in Iva, SC, he was a son of the late John Bruce Loftis and Elminey Black Loftis. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII; and retired as a major. Mr. Loftis taught for 20 years in North Carolina and 20 years in South Carolina; he was Dean of the Opportunity School locally. He was a member of South Lexington Baptist Church. Surviving is his daughter, Elizabeth H. Loftis Hart of Franklin, NC; sons, Daniel C. Loftis of Lexington, John B. Loftis of Seattle, WA, Dr. Clarence E. Loftis, Jr. of Irmo and Gregory C.
