Obituary of John Carter

John Thomas Carter, Sr., 68, husband of Brenda Grice Carter died Monday, January 23, 2012. Born July 24, 1943 in Winnsboro, SC, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Claude Carter. A graduate of Winnsboro High School, he served his country proudly in the United States Air Force, 49th Air Police Squadron 1963-1967. He attended the University of South Carolina prior to working for Westvaco Paper Company where he was employed for 18 years. Mr. Carter retired from Fort Jackson Forestry, Fire and Dispatch services. He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 43 years; his sons John T. Carter, Jr. (Vicki) of Columbia, Brent Carter (Anna) of Lexington; his daughters, Cammie Campbell (Freddie) of Columbia, Shelley Frost (David) of Columbia; his sister, Claudia Carter Cathcart (Sabritt, Jr.) of Winnsboro, SC; five nephews, one niece, and 14 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 6 ? 8pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4440 Jackson Blvd. Columbia, SC, with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Wes Warren, Kevin Warren, Thomas Cathcart, Britt Cathcart, Eric Cathcart and William Medlin.
