Obituary of Virginia Valentine
Virginia Ann Valentine, 84, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Palmetto Health Richland. She was born November 26, 1927 in Fountain Inn, SC.
She is the daughter of the late T.A.M. Cook and Docia Wilson Cook. She was married to the late Salvatore Russel Valentine. Mrs. Valentine retired from BCBSSC where she was manager of Food Services. She also catered and decorated cakes. She was very talented in ceramics arts and crafts. She was a member of Oasis Christian Fellowship, where she contributed her services to God. She also volunteered at God?s Storehouse.
God blessed the lives of many through her loving, gentle spirit. She was a caregiver to her parents. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-figure, and friend.
She is survived by four daughters: Susan McLaughlin Faust (Ronnie Faust), Beverly Valentine, Christia Kennedy (Calvin Kennedy, Sr.), and Rosemarie Valentine; grandchildren: Patrick McLaughlin, Jr., Jamie McLaughlin, Michael Sarvis, Valerie Sarvis, Rhett Kelly, Jr. and Calvin Kennedy, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Patrick McLaughlin, III, Curtis McLaughlin, McKenna Sarvis, Cailey Sarvis, Caleb Sarvis, Victoria Kelly, and Sarah Kelly; great-great grandson: Caden McLaughlin; a sister: Edna Smith of Anderson, SC and sister Theresa Bortin of Phoenix, AZ.
She is predeceased by her parents: T.A.M. Cook and Docia Wilson Cook; husband: Salvatore Russel Valentine; brothers: Wilton Wood, Rush ?Roy? Wood; sisters: Mary Hyatt, Thelma Moore, and Margaret Teddards.
The family will be receiving friends at Greenlawn Funeral Home on Leesburg Road on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, followed by a service in the Chapel at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kenny Abraham, Rhett Kelly, Jr., Joey Dunn, Joe Lawson, Brent Thomas, and Kenny Thompson.
The family would like to acknowledge: Dr. Brian Cline for the years of excellent care; Pastor Jim Ceman; the care from Tri-County Hospice, especially Vanessa Robinson and Jalana Flood; and also for the care given by Michelene Bell, Lynn Holt and Deborah Pittenger; the Staff of Palmetto Richland Hospital and the Staff of Palmetto Hospice.
