Obituary of Elizabeth Merchant

NEWBERRY: Services for Elizabeth "Jane" Merchant, 93, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Mark Bredholt. Interment will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens, Newberry, SC. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Stephens, David Stephens, Robbie Riley, Mike Epps, Jimmy Folk and Mike Brehmer. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30, one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Mrs. Merchant, widow of Henry W. Merchant, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 24, 2012. Born in Darlington, SC, she was a daughter of the late Henry Stephens and Myrtle Jordan Stephens. She was a member of Pineview Baptist Church; and was retired from the CSX Railroad Company. Mrs. Merchant was very involved with the church and loved to travel. Survivors include: nephews, Donald Bowers and Kenneth Bowers of Prosperity, Troy Bowers of Newberry, Brian Bowers of Chapin, Tommy Bowers of Newberry, Earle Merchant of Prosperity, Hugh Merchant and Mike Epps of Newberry; nieces, Maeberta Bobb of Rock Hill, Beth Folk (Jimmy) of Newberry; cousin, Dot Stephens of Lamar.
