Obituary of Laura Smith

Laura Bishop Smith SPRINGDALE-Funeral services for Laura Bishop Smith, 65, of Springdale, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Springdale Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy McGill, Rev. Dr. Donald Bishop and Rev. Dr. William Bishop. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church in the fellowship hall. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge. Mrs. Smith died Thursday, March 8, 2012. Born in Beaufort County, SC, she is the daughter of Ottie Priester Bishop and the late Leroy Bishop. She was a member of Springdale Baptist Church. Formerly of Hampton, SC, she had been a local resident here since 1950. Mrs. Smith had retired from Dr. McCathern's Dental Office and also had worked at Price-E daycare. She was a member of Woodmen of the World. Surviving in addition to her mother, Ottie Priester Bishop; her husband of 45 years, Hoyte R. Smith of Springdale; daughter, Kim Seegars (Richie) of Kershaw; son, Mark Smith (Dana) of Springdale; three grandchildren, Benjamin Smith, Dylan Smith and Wade Seegars; and brother, Don L. Bishop (Dale) of Lexington.
