Obituary of Satiro Liafsha

WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral services for Satiro E. "John" Liafsha, 87, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Lavender. Burial will be held at a later date at Mont Vista Memorial Gardens in Johnson City, TN. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Liafsha, widower of Pat Brown Liafsha, died Thursday, March 8, 2012. Born in Johnson City, TN, he was the son of the late Euthemio Satiro and Florence Little Liafsha. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He retired from Olympia Schools in 1986 after 31 years of service. Surviving are his daughters, Satira Liafsha of Irmo, Jan Liafsha (special friend Rick Leap) of Charleston, and Lisa Liafsha (Mike Sexton) of Greenville; son, Steve Liafsha of West Columbia; and five grandchildren, Adam Liafsha Foy, Maia Liafsha Foy, Kaitlyn Liafsha, Hailey Liafsha and Hayden Liafsha. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Liafsha.
