Obituary of Richard Moak

BATESBURG—Funeral services for Richard Moak, Sr., 80, of Batesburg, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Pastor Mary Anderson. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Church of Incarnation, 3005 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205 or St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1729 Blythewood Rd, Blythewood, SC 29016 or St. Peters Lutheran Church, 7389 Fairview Road, Batesburg, SC 29006. Mr. Moak, beloved husband of Mary Lynn Fallaw Moak, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012. Born in Richland County, he was the son of the late George Washington Moak and Johnnie Louise Halstead Moak. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Incarnation Lutheran Church and attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church since moving to Batesburg. Mr. Moak retired as Foreman, after many years of devoted service from South Carolina Dept. of Transportation. He was an active member of B-L Senior Center and was recently crowned King of the Senior Center. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Mary L. Moak of Batesburg; sons, Richard Uriah Moak of Lugoff, Ronald N. Moak of Camden, Mike R. Moak of Columbia, David C. Cloud of Lexington and Donald C. Cloud of Charleston; sisters, Louise Anne Jones of Texas and Zita V. Godley of Utah; brother, Robert D. Moak of Blythewood, along with three grandchildren.
