Obituary of Jackson Abrams

WEST COLUMBIA: Services for Jackson Richard Abrams, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Broadacres Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. William R. "Bill" Geddings, Jr. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Cecil Whetstone, Chris Abrams, William Lee Daniels, Todd Abrams, Paul Abrams and Drew Abrams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class, Heyward Brown, F.M. Metts and Donnie Busbee. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Broadacres Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2350 Taylor Road, Cayce, SC 29033. Mr. Abrams went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 12, 2012. Born in Leo, (Florence County) SC, he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Abrams and Sarah Lou Britt Abrams. He was an active member of Broadacres Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, usher and Deacon. Mr. Abrams was retired from Palmetto Baking Company after 50+ years of loyal service where he won numerous awards from the Quality Bakers Assoc. Mr. Abrams was an avid golfer, gardener and sports enthusiast. Surviving is his loving wife, Alberta Abrams of Cayce; daughter, Brenda Pound (Charles) of West Columbia; sons, Larry Abrams (Elaine) of West Columbia and Albert Wayne Abrams (Laura) of Woodruff; his sister, Sylvia Whetstone (Cecil) of Columbia; five grandchildren, Chris Abrams, Drew Abrams, Kelli Abrams Burgess, Todd Abrams and Lindsay Pound; four great grandchildren, Jacob Abrams, Addy Burgess, Emerson Burgess and Samuel Burgess.
