Obituary of John Pearce

CAYCE: Funeral services for John Edward Pearce, Sr., 75, will be held at 12 p.m. Noon Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Tommy Lineberger. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends and family from 5 until 7 p.m. this Monday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Platt Springs Rd., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Pearce, husband of Mary Jennie Jaco Pearce, died Saturday, March 17, 2012. Born in Charleston, SC, he was a son of the late John Edward Pearce and Lucille Chandler Pearce. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was 1955 Serviceman of the Year. He was retired from S.C. Comptroller General's Office. Mr. Pearce was a member of the Cayce-West Columbia Jaycee's; and was often Santa Claus in parades throughout the state. Mr. Pearce was also a member of S.C. F.O.A. and officiated High School Football for over 25 years; he was also a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood of Faith Lutheran Church. Surviving are: his spouse of 52 years, Mary Jaco Pearce of Cayce; daughters, Betty A. Pearce of West Columbia and Jennie Lynn Bingham (Kenny) of Cayce; son, John Edward Pearce, Jr. (Meredith) of Lexington; four grandchildren, Kayla Bingham, Kellie Bingham, Katie Pearce and Abby Pearce.
