Obituary of Bertha Griffin

CAYCE: Memorial service to celebrate the life of Bertha Morrow Griffin, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Carol G. Thompson. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to State Street Baptist Church, 1429 State St., Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. Griffin, widow of William Eugene Griffin, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late Silas Guy Morrow and Katie Stevens Morrow. She was a member of State Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Griffin was a graduate of Columbia High School, class of 1939. She was retired from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Survivors are: daughters, Carol G. Thompson of Satellite Beach, FL and Evelyn Stewart of Prosperity; sister, Ruby Moore of Chapin; brother, Frank Morrow of Lexington; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, William Eugene Griffin, Jr., brothers, Jim Morrow, Sterling Morrow, Leroy Morrow and sisters, Louise Gerald and Margaret Johnson. The family would like to thank White Oak Manor of Newberry for their superb care and to the Newberry County Memorial Hospital staff.
