Obituary of Bertha Johnson

WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Bertha Evelyn Baker Johnson, 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Pastor Stephen Chitty and Pastor Terry Roberts. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson, widow of Clarence Richard Johnson, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Born in Augusta, GA, she was a daughter of the late William "Coy" Baker and Annie Mae Hanson Baker. She was a member of Christian Life Assembly Church. She loved her family and the Lord. She was an "incredible baker" known for her legendary Red Velvet Cake. Mrs. Johnson was an avid gardener; she touched many lives and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Harmony Hospice for their excellent care. Survivors are: her daughter, Janice Lowery (Mark) of West Columbia; brother, Oscar Baker (Inez) of Augusta, GA; two grandchildren, Eric Stackley (Maggie) and Jenna Lowery; also numerous nieces and nephews.
