Obituary of Anne Watts

WEST COLUMBIA: Services for Anne Watts, 79, will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Silvernail, Rusty Watts, John Robert Watts, John Sox, Bruce Lucas and Randall Swanson. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, April 3, 2012, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodmen of the World, (in Anne's honor). Mrs. Watts died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at her home. Born in Chatham, VA, on April 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late David Arthur "D.A." Slater and Lucille Sharpe Slater. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert M. Watts and daughter Sharon Watts Miller. After many years of service, she retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service and then worked alongside her husband at Interstate Nuclear Services for several years. Throughout these years, Mrs. Watts served her family with love and self-sacrifice. She thoroughly enjoyed life, considered her bowling buddies and bingo friends as part of her family, and loved her Gamecocks. She never tired of bragging about her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved each and every one with fierceness. Mrs. Watts is survived by children, John Watts (Sharon) of the home, Dr. Linda Silvernail of Columbia, Robert Watts of Mt. Pleasant, Debra Fitzgerald (Barry) of South Congaree, Carla Sadlier (Thomas) of Lexington; grandchildren, Brandon Watts, Kristen Swanson (Randall), Megan Watts, John Robert Watts (Ashleigh), Adam Silvernail, Kellie Fitzgerald, Ashley Fitzgerald, Kelsey Sadlier; also four great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
