Obituary of Nadeen Dickert

COLUMBIA:Nadeen Williams Dickert, the widow of the Rev. Roy E. Dickert, arrived in her Heavenly Home on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the age of 92. She was born July 19, 1919, in Swansea, SC, to Howell Benjamin Williams, Sr., and Lula Goodwin Williams. Mrs. Dickert attended Swansea schools and was employed for many years with Field Enterprises selling World Book Encyclopedias. She served with Rev. Dickert at United Methodist churches throughout South Carolina, including Easley Mill (now St. Andrews); Calhoun Falls; Lockhart and Wesley Chapel, Union; St. Luke, Lancaster; Gordon Memorial, Winnsboro; Grace, Williamston; and Bethel, Union, SC. She published a book of Rev. Dickert's sermons and devotional writings, Our Trails to Triumphant Living. After Rev. Dickert died at the age of 58 while serving Bethel in Union, Mrs. Dickert spent time with her family and traveled, including a trip to the Holy Land. She spent a lot of time between her two homes, Popular Creek Landing and Columbia. Mrs. Dickert was also predeceased by her second husband, Loudon Jeffcoat, two sons; Roy E. (Dickie), Jr., and James Wallace; her parents; eight brothers and four sisters; a grandson, Roy Harold Copeland; and a great-grandson, Brian David Kendall. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands; Gayle and Joe Kendall, and Annette and Wayne Copeland, both of Columbia; five grandchildren, Laura Keels (Mark), Joey Kendall (Cecy), Lisa Glenn (Terry), Kimberly Richards (Rob), and Kerrie Copeland; seven great grandchildren, Jordan and Jared Keels; Andrea, Casey, and David Kendall; Ryan Glenn; and Caroline Richards, who all affectionately called her Nanny. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Lex McDonald. Burial will follow at Melrose Gardens in Swansea. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 3390 Pine Belt Road, Columbia, SC 29204.
