Obituary of Harvey Hammond

WEST COLUMBIA: Graveside service for Harvey Cordell Hammond, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Woodridge Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Don Davis. Serving as pallbearers will be David Scott Hammond, Mark Charles Hammond, David O'Neal, Carl Corba, James Little and Neal Stork. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2003 Charleston Highway, Cayce, SC 29033. Mr. Hammond passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012. Born in St. Matthews, SC, he was a son of the late Harvey Jordan Hammond and Fannie Rae Austin Hammond. He was retired from the USC Coliseum. Mr. Hammond was a member of Trinity Baptist Church; the Berean Sunday School Class and the Joy Club. Survivors are his loving wife, Barbara Phillips Hammond of West Columbia; sons, David Turner Hammond (Robin) of Cayce and Phillip Michael Hammond of West Columbia; sister, Faye Swindler of Gaston; brother, Charlie Martin Hammond (Ann) of Gaston; three grandchildren, David Scott Hammond, Rachel Lynn Watson, and Mark Charles Hammond. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Hammond.
