LEXINGTON: A Mass of Catholic Burial for "Papa" Mario Stuppiello, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, officiated by Reverend Father Emmanuel Andinam. Interment will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus. The family will receive friends on both Wednesday and Thursday from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 7 until 9 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Dr., Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033, or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Papa Mario of Antonina's Ristorante, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was a son of the late Giuseppe Stuppiello and Josephine Popalardo Stuppiello. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Signal Corps. Papa Stuppiello was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and was retired from Grumman Aerospace Corp. He was a volunteer fireman, formerly captain of Holtsville-Farmingville Fire Dept., Long Island, for nearly 30 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #725 and Holtsville-Farmingville Lions Club. Survivors are: his loving wife, Antonina Stuppiello of Lexington; daughter, Maria Stuppiello-Schomber of Long Island, NY; son, Joseph Stuppiello and wife, Diane, of Gilbert; sister, Yolanda Buzzeo of Flushing, NY; brother, Michael Stuppiello of Melville, NY; eight grandchildren, Bradley, Joseph, Ryan, Jennifer, Douglas, Jacqueline, Peter and James; and one great grandson, Lane. Papa Stuppiello was preceded in death by brothers, Vincent and George Stuppiello.
