Obituary of Dorothy Patterson Bittner

Memorial services for Dorothy Elizabeth Patterson Bittner will be 2:30 pm Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Asbury United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Greenlawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Dorothy Elizabeth Patterson Bittner, 95, wife of Jack Bittner, died on Friday, May 4th, at the home of her son on Wadmalaw Island, SC. Born in Boston, Pa, she is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Jack, and her devoted son and daughter inlaw, Jack and Renee. She will be greatly missed by her grandsons, John "Chip" Bittner and wife Janet, Eric Bittner, T.J. Bittner and wife Tiffany, David Roberts, Randy Roberts and wife Juliet. Dorothy is also survived by ten great grandchildren and two nieces, Carol (Chuck) Kibiger of Fort Wayne, Ind and Yvonne (Jack) Irwin of Port Orange, Fla. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mae and her brother, William. Dorothy and Jack enjoyed their retirement years in Palm Bay Florida after moving from Pennsylvania where she was active in the Daughters of the Nile. They moved to Columbia in 1998 and were faithful members of Asbury United Methodist Church. They relocated to the Charleston area last October to be near their son. The family requests that memorials be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 1005 Asbury Dr, Columbia, SC 29209 in lieu of flowers.
