Obituary of Walter Ard

Walter "David" Ard, Jr. COLUMBIA-A memorial service for Walter "David" Ard, Jr. 45, of Columbia, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. James Harold Easterby, IV. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Ard passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James L. Carter and Doris Carter. He was a lifetime area resident and attended Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Ard's Home Improvement. Mr. Ard loved motorcycles, golf, football, softball and was a huge Gamecock Fan. He was energetic, loved life and family. He was enthusiastic, very trusting, giving, generous, helpful and a true free spirit! Surviving are his daughter, Tyler Shae Ard of Lexington; girlfriend, Connie Lindler and her son, Jason Lindler, Jr. of Columbia; step-mother, Nancy Carter of West Columbia; sister, Darlene Hutto (Jason) of Lexington; brothers, James Carter (Kathy) and Charles B. Carter all of Lexington; special nephew, Blake Rabon of Lexington and nieces, Tiffini Rabon and Jordin Hutto all of Lexington.
