Obituary of Eugene Willard

CAYCE: Funeral services for Eugene H. Willard, 88, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Platt Springs United Methodist Church, officiated by The Reverend Rebecca J. Shirley. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Friday, prior to service at the church. Memorials may be made to Platt Springs United Methodist Church, 3215 Platt Springs Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Willard passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Born in Union County, Whitmire, SC, he was a son of the late Isaac Drayton Willard and Inez Murphy Willard. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Mr. Willard was a member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church; and was retired from SCE&G. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors are: his wife of 56 years, Eloise Cooper Willard of Cayce; daughters, Amy W. Hendrix (Mark) of Lexington, Joanne W. Loveless (Bruce) of Chapin and Sherry W. Bailey (Bobby) of Gaston; sons, John Gummer-Willard of Doncaster, England and Christopher D. Willard of Cayce; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Willard was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Willard and sister, Agnes Gertrude
