Obituary of LAURA JACKSON

Laura Jackson died May 16, 2012. She was born August 28, 1913 in Athens, Alabama to Richard and Nannie Lou Christopher. She and her husband, Raymond, moved to Columbia in 1950. They enjoyed traveling and entertaining their many friends. Until recently, she was an active member of First Christian Church where she handcrafted items for the annual bazaar. She also enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. She is survived by her son, Richard (Gayle); grandson, Gary (Rhonda); granddaughter, Lynn; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Toogie; sisters, Richie Thornton, Rachel Christopher and Dot Hyde; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, Linda Shaw. Graveside services will be held 12:00 pm, Friday, May 18, 2012 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Torrie Osgood officiating. Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the hour of the service on Friday. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 2062 N. Beltline Blvd. Columbia, SC 29204.
