Obituary of James Beard

COLUMBIA: Funeral services for James Marshall Beard, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Abundant Life Assembly Church, officiated by Jerry Flowers. Interment will be at a later date in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Dorn VA Medical Center, 6439 Garners Ferry Rd., Columbia, SC 29209 for the Columbia, SC family or Loma Linda VA, 11201 Benton St., Loma Linda, CA 92354 for California based family. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Beard, widower of Mary Lois Flowers Beard after 24 years of marriage, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012. Born in Stedman, NC, he was a son of the late James Euras Beard and Jessie Pearle Williams Beard. He served his country in the U.S. Navy; and was a retired employee of Boeing. Survivors are his daughters, Leigh Ann Gileno (Todd) of Yucaipa, CA, Jessica Kylene Rushing (Derek) of Beaumont, CA and Kassie Blair Beard of Lake Arrowhead, CA; son, Joel Aaron Beard (Jamie) of Chino, CA; sisters, Rhumelle Averitt of Winston-Salem, NC and Bobbi Lee Thibeault of Elkin, NC; four grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Gileno, Brandon Phillip Gileno, James Marshall Beard and Brooklyn Kylene Rushing.
