Obituary of Merlene Bouknight

WEST COLUMBIA—Merlene Sox Bouknight, 83, of West Columbia, widow of Raymond C. Bouknight, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Lewis C. and Leola R. Sox of Lexington, SC. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class; a graduate of Lexington High School and was employed with Argus Camera and Westinghouse Electric. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda B. Judy (Ronnie) of Dorchester and sons, Charles R. Bouknight (Gail) of Greenwood and Ed R. Bouknight of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren, Brian Grainger (Jennifer) of Lakeworth, FL, Travis and Allison Bouknight of Greenwood, Nicole Stroud (Terry) of Spartanburg, Nick Bouknight (Trish) of Duncan, Katie Burke (Chaun) of Inman and Taylor Bouknight of Spartanburg; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Rikard of Lexington and a brother, Kenneth Sox (Jane) of McBee. She was predeceased by sisters, Birdie Buff, Cecile Corley and Doris Smith; brothers, Killian, Leon, J.T., Curtis and Harold Sox and a grandson, Jonathan Ashley Bouknight. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Eric Friedrichs. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012. Memorials may be made to the "Building on Holy Ground" at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3011 Leapheart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169.
