Obituary of Elsa Whetsell

WEST COLUMBIA: Memorial service for Elsa Kizer Whetsell, 82, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at St. Paul International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Highway 6 East, 648 St. Matthews Road, Swansea, SC 29160, officiated by The Reverend H. Larry Jones. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul International Pentecostal Holiness Church, P.O. Box 219, Swansea, SC 29160. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mrs. Whetsell passed away Monday, May 21, 2012. Born in Dorchester County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Shuler Kizer and Minnie Bowman Kizer. She was a member of St. Paul International Pentecostal Holiness Church; and was retired from Allied Chemical after 19 years of service. Survivors are: her loving husband, Marion Dukes Whetsell, Jr. of West Columbia; daughters, Debra Gantt (Johnny) of West Columbia, Renee Treadaway and Jean Shirer of West Columbia; sons, Marion David Whetsell of North, Kim Whetsell (Virginia) of Gaston and Marion David Whetsell, II of Goose Creek; sisters, Sue Wimbley of St. George and Kate Kruger of Austin, TX; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Mrs. Whetsell was preceded in death by a son, Mark Dewayne Whetsell.
