Obituary of Nancy Vodry

LEESVILLE:Nancy Louise Vodry, 72 years old of Leesville, SC, passed away May 23, 2012 after several years of declining health. She was the daughter of Harry and Alice Summer, and a resident of Saluda County. A graduate of Columbia High School, she continued her education later in life at Longview Community College, in Lee's Summit, MO. She spent the majority of her working life at Kansas Power & Light, in Kansas City, MO. as their marketing coordinator. She was a cancer survivor who overcame breast cancer with the determination and positive attitude that never left her. More recently she applied those same virtues in her battle with Parkinson's disease. She dearly loved her family and is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Vodry, son Mark Vodry, and daughters Beth Springer and Debbie Conner; brothers, James Harry Summer and Stanley Lee Summer; sister, Delores Elaine Smith. She will always remain in the hearts of her family and friends including her 10 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Betty June Smyrl. Visitation for Mrs. Vodry will be Friday, May 25, 2012, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Murray Baptist church in Lexington. Following the church service a graveside service will be held at Crescent Hill Cemetery, in Columbia with the Reverend Herb Gladden officiating.
