Obituary of Frank Wise

CAYCE—Mr. Frank Lawrence Wise, Jr. 90, of Cayce, beloved husband of the late Von Dell James Wise, to whom he was married for 69 ½ years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Born on November 23, 1921, and a lifelong resident of Cayce, he was the youngest of seven children born to Frank Lawrence Wise, Sr. and Lillie Gertrude Eason. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Wise will be forever remembered by his children, James Carroll Wise (Betty) of Cayce, Michael Don Wise (Dianne) of Orangeburg, as a loving and caring father; grandchildren, Steven Mark Wise (Michelle) of Lexington, Kristy Jean Wise of Cayce and Michael Brandon Wise of Columbia. He strongly believed that with God's help all things were possible. He served as deacon, adult Sunday school teacher, taught Bible study classes and served on various committees at Congaree Baptist Church, Taylor Street Baptist Church and Dixiana Baptist Church throughout his lifetime. A World War II Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he earned the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. He retired from Ben Stern Construction as a carpenter and construction superintendent. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed building and running radio control boats. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the caregivers at Agape Senior in Lexington and the Agape Hospice House in Columbia. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will be greeting friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
