Obituary of Calvin McGee

LEESVILLE—Funeral services for Calvin Bruce McGee, 76, of Leesville will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Jumper. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Butch, Kenny, David, Christopher, Donald and Jonathan. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Mr. McGee beloved husband of Joann Cloud McGee, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012. Born in Florence he was the son of the late Bennie McGee and Burnette Granger McGee. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the City of Cayce and was awarded Employee of the year and received several awards as Employee of the Month. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Joann Cloud McGee of Leesville; daughter, Sherry Pera of Cedaredge, CO; sons, Calvin "Butch" McGee (Samatha) and David McGee (Karen) all of Leesville, Donald McGee (Kristy) of West Columbia; brothers, Allen McGee of Anderson and David McGee of West Columbia; nine grandchildren, Thomas, David, Kenny, Shellie, Christopher (Deborah), Brandon, Krystal, Jonathan, Jessicca and Marina; six great-grandchildren, Kiley, Kaleb, Kirsten, Ryan, Kyleigh and Emberlynn. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Jean McGee and 10 brothers and sisters.
