Obituary of Ezra Lloyd

LEXINGTON: Ezra Lloyd, 85, went home to heaven on Sunday, May 27, 2012. Chapel service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Steve Allen. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. Serving as Pallbearers will be the Sinclair Masonic Lodge of West Columbia and Honorary Pallbearers will be the City of Columbia Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of South Carolina, 190 Knox Abbott Dr., Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Lloyd, widower of Deview Redmond Lloyd, was born in St. Matthews, he was a son of the late William Homer Lloyd and Colie Hazel McIver Lloyd. He was a member of Ridge Assembly of God, Davenport, FL and was retired from City of Columbia Fire Department. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII; he was a member of Sinclair Lodge #154 and Jamil Shriner Temple. Survivors include his wife, Myrtis M. Chavis Lloyd of Lexington; daughters, Darlene Lloyd Almond (Wayne) of Leesville and Colleen Lloyd Guenin (Greg) of Fayette, AL; sons, Ezra Homer Lloyd (Arita) of Davenport, FL and John W. Lloyd of Lexington; step-sons, Keevin T. Chavis of Spring Lake, NC and Kendall B. Chavis of West Columbia; brother, Franklin S. Lloyd (Evelyn) of Edisto Island;aunt, Vera Lloyd Chavis of Lexington; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Victor Alan Lloyd and a brother, Harold W. Lloyd (Dot). The family would like to give special thanks to the Caris Hospice for their love and care.
