Obituary of LINDA HALLMAN

A graveside service for Linda Gonzalez Hallman will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Jay Glascow officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Spencer Ferguson, Taber Arnold, Ronnie Johnson, Stanley Spears, Scott James and Phil Heaton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road Columbia, SC 29209. Linda Gonzalez Hallman, 69, died May 28, 2012. Born in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Corinne Sanders Chewning and William L. Gonzalez; and step-father, Charles T. Chewning. Spending most of her life in Columbia, she also kept a home at the Isle of Palms, SC. Linda was a graduate of Columbia High School in 1962. She was employed by Richland County School District One, retiring in 2002 after 23-years of service. She also spent many years as a school district volunteer. Additionally, she served as a Girl Scout leader and was a motherly figure to many. She was a proud South Carolinian, a dedicated genealogist, avid gardener and loved the beach. Linda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband of 50-years, Charles Hallman, and step-father Charles T. Chewning, both of Columbia. Son, Matt Hallman and wife Jessica of Columbia. Daughter, Debbie Daniels and husband Brian of West Columbia, and former daughter-in-law Jennifer Black, also of Columbia. She will be missed greatly by her beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Will Hallman, and Caroline and Addie Daniels. The family would also like to thank Linda's many special friends, home care nurses Jenni Westmoreland and Angela Hicks, Dr. Dan Love and the staff of Palmetto Pulmonary, and the team from Palmetto Health Hospice for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children?s Cancer Center at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, SC or to the American Lung Association of South Carolina, 1817 Gadsden Street Columbia, SC 29201.
