Obituary of Karen Shockey

COLUMBIA—Funeral service for Karen B. Shockey, 53, of Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Dixon. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Ms. Shockey passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of Mavis Love and the late Olin Davis Love. She was a lifetime area resident and of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister. Karen will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her mother, Mavis Love of Columbia; daughter, Taylor Beth Shockey of Columbia; significant other, Chuck Kattenburg of Spring Valley; sister, Billie Lyell (Terry) of Lugoff and Nancy Sox (Glenn) of Gaston; brother, Charles Alexander of Gaston; uncle, Joe Laird (Gay) of West Columbia; aunt, Barbara Harmon (James) of Columbia along with numerous nieces and nephews.
