Obituary of Joel Dennis

LEXINGTON—Joel William Dennis, 45, of Lexington, died at Palmetto Richland Hospital after an extended illness on June 1, 2012. Born on September 2, 1966, he was the son of C. Henry Dennis and Joan S. Dennis. He was a 1984 graduate of Brookland Cayce High School, where he was voted class Clown and loved baseball, playing 3rd base and pitching. He graduated in 1987 from The University of South Carolina, majoring in Criminal Justice. He was employed by the Lexington County Probation, Pardon and Parole, retiring in June of 2010. Mr. Dennis is survived by his parents, Henry and Joan S. Dennis; brother, Duane C. Dennis (Janet); his son, Justin William Dennis and daughter, Savannah Bell Dennis; and wife, Ashley Hayes Dennis and her two daughters, Chandler and Mills Hayes. He is also survived by the mother of his two children, Lisa D. Epting. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 655 Hammonds Cross Road, St. Matthews, SC 29135. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
