Obituary of Andrew Milling

A funeral service celebrating the life of Andrew Alvin Milling, Sr., 87, of Hopkins, SC will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Zion Chapel Baptist Church #2, on Reeder Point Drive. Military honors and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Mr. Andrew Alvin Milling, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. He was born on March 3, 1925, in Fairfield County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Rufus and Annie (Robertson) Milling. Mr. Milling was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County and graduated from Camp Liberty High School, in Jenkinsville, South Carolina. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Milling earned numerous certificates and diplomas in various trade areas: electronic repairs, masonry, medical technician as well as general construction contractor. Mr. Milling retired from Wachovia Bank as a Courier in 1991. A faithful member of the Zion Chapel Baptist Church #2 at the time of his passing, he held numerous positions throughout the church: Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Vocal choir president and first chair vocal leader, Deacon, as well as Chairman of the Board of Deacons; however, his favorite position was that of Christian worker in God?s kingdom. Deacon Andrew Alvin Milling, Sr. is survived by his wife Ruby (Manning) Milling. They were married on July 10, 1955. This union resulted in seven (7) children: Patricia Gail (Keith) Davis of Ridgeway, SC; Valerie and Carol Milling of Hopkins, SC; Travis Milling of West Columbia, SC; Michelle (Michael) Petrone of Hopkins, SC; Sharon (Richard) Evans of Hopkins; a son, Andrew Alvin Milling, Jr. predeceased him in death on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He is also survived by a brother, Hannie D. Milling, Sr. and a sister, Parnease Manning of Winnsboro, SC; thirteen grandchildren, Natasha, Andrea and Michael Milling of Columbia, SC; Alicia? D. Warren of Hopkins; Dylan, Chayton, Nash, and Paris Davis of Ridgway, SC; Richard, Precious, and JR Evans of Hopkins, SC; William and Jason Petrone of Hopkins, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends in addition to Sharon E. (Jenkins) Milling.
