Obituary of Donald Griffin

A funeral service celebrating the life of Donald Eugene Griffin, Sr., 78, of Columbia will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. on Thursday until the hour of the service at the funeral home. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements. Mr. Griffin departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. He was born in Columbia, SC to the late Burl and Willie Dawkins Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a member of Suber Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church. He was also an avid outdoorsman and sports fanatic for USC Gamecock sports. Mr. Griffin was instrumental in the Saltwater Conservation in South Carolina and also implementation of the South Carolina Saltwater Fishing License. Surviving are his children, Thomas (Tesa) Griffin, Donald Griffin, Jr., and Debra Griffin (Ken) Detwiler; five grandchildren, Kendal Detwiler, Clay Detwiler, Trey Griffin, Kelsie Griffin, and Hunter Griffin; other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
