Obituary of BOYD SHANER

Boyd L. Shaner, Sr. Columbia, SC Funeral services for Boyd L. Shaner, Sr. will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Greenlawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Mr. Shaner died June 25, 2012. He was born December 25, 1932 in Celina, OH to the late Henry Clay Shaner and Bessie Pearl Miller Shaner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Shaner was a master craftsman/pressman, and was retired from the State Printing Company. He was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church and the American Legion, and was an avid gardener. Surviving are his daughter, Vickie S. Pierce of West Columbia; sons, Charles A. Shaner (wife Cindy) of Lexington and Boyd L. Shaner, Jr. of Columbia; a sister, Virginia Brehn of Celina, OH; brothers, Jay Shaner, Jr. of Lima, OH and Leon Shaner of Celina, OH; six grandchildren, Brandi, McKala, Brent, Travis, Justin and Chaz; and four great-grandchildren, Tristin, Bella, J.J. and Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Shaner; his parents; two sisters, Thelma and Alice; and a brother, Louis.
