Obituary of D. Craft

WEST COLUMBIA: Services for D. Colie Craft, 99, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Pastor J. Wayne Smith, Jr. and Chaplain Yu Fong Chong. Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting St., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Craft, widower of Mary DuPre Craft and Doris L. Furtick, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012. Born in Edmund, SC, he was a son of the late Dallas Craft and Annie Shumpert Craft. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church and a former member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Craft was retired from the SC Employment Security Commission; he was a member of the American Legion Post 6, Sinclair Masonic Lodge #154, United Methodist Men, and the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class. Surviving are his daughters, Cay Houck (Louis) of Lexington, Mary Anne Cooper (Bob) of Greenville and Frances Leaphart (Larry) of Columbia; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Mr. Craft was preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Katie Lou Hanson.
