Obituary of Alvildia Cook

WINTER SPRINGS, FLA-Services for Alvildia Cook, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Burial will follow in Gibson Cemetery. Officiating will be the Reverend Ed Lynch. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her honor to Special Olympics, 810 Dutch Square Blvd, Ste. 204, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Autism Society, South Carolina, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Cook, widow of John H. Cook, Sr., died Monday, July 9, 2012. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Hattie Mae Frick Boyd. She was a resident of Florida, formerly of West Columbia, SC. She was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Rich and her husband Bradley of Orlando, FL, Barbara Kingsley of Orlando, FL, and Carolyn Cook of Las Vegas; her son, John H. Cook, Jr. (Tina Kimberly) of West Columbia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nellie Rae Williams of Cayce, SC.
