Obituary of James Allan Ward

WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral services for James "Jimmy" Allan Ward, 67, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be the Reverend Dr. Lonnie Shull and Pastor Clyde Holliday. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to charity of one's choice. Mr. Ward died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 surrounded by his close family and friends. Born in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Oscar T. and Mary Ford Ward. Jimmy was in the floor covering business for 30 plus years; and was also a founding member of Lake Murray Ski Club. Surviving are his wife and best friend, Joanie Ward of West Columbia; daughter, Tonya Haywood of Columbia; sons, Troy Goodwin (Heather) of Lexington and Tony Goodwin (Stephanie) of West Columbia; four grandchildren, Taegan Goodwin, Ellasyn Goodwin, Riley Haywood and Henry Haywood; his mother-in-law, Joan Mayward Vaughn and the late, Toby Vaughn; aunt, Leola Duke of Augusta, GA; and two special friends, Michelle Drawdy of Lexington and John Peer of Irmo; numerous other relatives and friends; and his four legged son and Best Buddy Murphy.
