Mrs. Watson died Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Born in Edgefield County, SC, on December 13, 1918, she was the oldest child and daughter of thirteen children of the late Eli and Nancy Adams Robinson. She was the wife of the late Woodrow Wilson "W.W." Watson. She was a homemaker, worked in textiles, grocery store, and helped many people farm and harvest. She was one of the hardest working women around, loved her flowers and gardens, a wonderful cook, a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that will be dearly missed by all of her children, family, and friends. Formerly of Batesburg-Leesville, Mrs. Watson had been an area resident since 1955. Surviving are her sisters; Grace Derrick of Trenton, SC, Irene Hutchinson of Augusta, GA, and Mae Harrelson of Belvedere, SC; daughter-in-law, Edith Joye Gunter Watson of West Columbia; daughters, Cristine Watson Davis of Columbia, Eloise Watson Chavis of Lexington; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Joyce Wallace Watson of West Columbia. In addition to five grandsons who will serve as pallbearers, Mrs. Watson is survived by granddaughters; Angela Chavis Hicks and her husband, Richard, Janet Watson Altman and her husband, Howard, and Michelle Watson; grandsons' wives Doreen K. Davis, Kendra J. Davis, Christine T. Watson, and Coie Igarashi Watson; and nine great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. Mrs. Watson was predeceased by her son, Clarence Edward Watson; her son-in-law, Ray E. Chavis; her brothers, Jake, Walter, Bud, and John Robinson; her sisters, Louise Harris, Nealie Fields, Jo Ann Callaham, Sue Phillips, and Evelyn Robinson. We wish to thank all of the staff that took such great care of Polly Watson at the Lexington Medical Center, and a very special thank you goes to her two daughter-in-laws, Edith Joye Gunter Watson and Joyce Wallace Watson, who went far beyond the call of duty when other members of our family were not able to attend to her needs.
