Obituary of Kenneth Smith

Mr. Kenneth Dean Smith, 79, died Wednesday morning. He was a son of the late James Maxwell and Euzelia Pearson Smith. Mr. Smith retired after serving 20 years with The United States Coast Guard, he was a member of American Legion, he retired from Richland County School District One ,coached baseball at Caughman Road Park and was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church. Mr. Smith?s favorite hobbies were playing golf and growing tomatoes. Surviving is his wife of 53 years; Emmie Knight Smith, daughters ; Patricia Smith Posey and husband Mike of Honea Path, Wanda Smith Goff and husband Don of Hopkins, son; Michael Smith, Sr. and wife Mandy of Columbia, sister; Vera Franklin of Columbia, Grandchildren; Tasha O?Quinn and husband Russell, Chad Posey, Marshall Goff and wife Heather, Morgan Goff and wife Ashton, Katherine and Rachel Smith, Michael Smith, Jr. and 4 Great Grandchildren. A special thanks to Dr. McElveen, Kim DeWitt and the staff at SC Oncology. The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 27, 2012, from 6 until 8 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Funeral services with full military honors will be Saturday , July 28, 2012, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home. The family is being served by Greenlawn Funeral Home.
