Obituary of Dorothy Blackston

Dorothy S. Blackston, 83, of North Litchfield Beach at Pawleys Island, S.C. died July 29, 2012 at Lexington Extended Care, Lexington, SC. She lived with her daughter Brenda Blackston, but was from Columbia, SC. She was born in Swainsboro, GA on November 7, 1928 to the late Floyd Jewell Stephens and Lula Bell Stephens. Mrs. Blackston was the widow of Walter Edward (Eddie) Blackston of Columbia, SC. She was a member of Capital View Baptist Church in Columbia and retired with her husband from their Esso Service Station across from the Veterans Hospital on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia. Survivors include her daughter Brenda J. Blackston of North Litchfield at Pawleys Island, SC and her son William (Bill) Edward Blackston of Lexington, SC. Brenda has two daughters. Sasha S. Coleman is married to Dr. Ty Coleman. Their children are Witt, Annaclare, and Edward. They reside in Lexington, SC. Ashley K. Streeter resides in Charlotte, NC. Bill?s wife is Elizabeth (Libba), and they have a daughter and a son. Kristina B. Goff is married to Allan Goff. They have a daughter McKenna, and reside in Lexington, SC. Clayton Blackston also resides in Lexington, SC. 3 surviving sisters are Jeanette Nunamaker of Columbia, Betty Furtick of Batesburg, and Martha Brown of Columbia. Pre-deceased are a sister Lavon Jewell, and a brother W. (Bill) T. Stephens. A visitation for Dorothy S. Blackston will be held from 6:00pm ? 8:00pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Greenlawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
