Obituary of Herman Jackson

CAYCE—Funeral service for Herman "Coot" Jackson, 90, of Cayce, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012, at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. Jesse Monts. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Elgin, SC. Active pallbearers will be his nephews, Kevin Jackson, Delphin Gantt, Frankie Jackson, David Spires, Eric Hernandez and friend, Darrill Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be his Men's 2 Senior Sunday School Class at Trinity Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Jenni-Lynn Assisted Living Piano Fund, 915 Hook Ave., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Jackson, beloved husband of the late Aurelia Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late John J. Jackson and Gussie Boatwright Jackson. He was a World War II Veteran of the United State Marine Corp. He was a resident of Cayce since 2008, formerly of Miami, FL. He retired after many years of devoted service from Pan American Airlines. Surviving are his brothers, Cecil J. Jackson (Carolyn) of Cayce, Frank Jackson (Pat) of West Columbia; sisters, Nellie Jernigan of Glennville, GA, Daisy Mae Martin of Lexington, Nancy Hudson of York, Eunice Davis of Anniston, AL, Janie Spires of West Columbia, Antha Williams (H.R.) of West Columbia and Lila Gantt (Delphin) of West Columbia; and extended family David and Liz Hernandez and their children, Jennifer and (Eric, God son) of Miami, FL. and a number of nieces and nephews; and his special, "friend friend", Mary Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents and three brothers, his twin, Furman Jackson, Jack Jackson and W. R. "Pete" Jackson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Jenni-Lynn Assisted Living for their kind and loving care given to our brother.
