Obituary of Lizzie Nettles

PELION—Funeral service for Lizzie Nettles, 90, of Pelion, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Dolorosa Worship Center. Officiating will be Thomas Doolittle, Carroll Hurley and Mark Crumpton. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Dolorosa Worship Center, 365 Old Charleston Rd, Pelion, SC, 29123. Mrs. Nettles, beloved wife of the late William Ralph Nettles, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012. Born in Orangeburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Tedder and Lottie Tager Tedder. She was a lifelong member of City of Hope in West Columbia until moving to Pelion where she attended Dolorosa Worship Center. She retired from Shakespeare Monofilament, spent many hours volunteering with the Red Cross and numerous other organizations. A special thanks for all the prayers, visits and phone calls, also to Agape Hospice House for their loving care. Surviving are her son, Roger Nettles (Bertha C.) of Pelion; daughter-in-law, Faye Nettles Robbs of Sumter; grandchildren, Edwin Nettles, Jr., Jonathan Nettles (Amy), Eunice Nettles, Joseph Nettles (Shanti), Jimmy Nettles (Becky), Tracy Way (Ronnie); great-grandchildren, Dylan & Dustin Way, Riley Nettles, Gracie & Ashley Nettles and J. W. Nettles; sister, Mattie New of Orangeburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Ralph Nettles, son, James Ralph Nettles, two brothers and four sisters.
