Obituary of Edna White

WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Edna Rice White, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Cayce United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Joseph James. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. White's grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to God's Helping Hands, 919 Holland Avenue, Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. White, widow of Arthur E. White, Sr., went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Born in Little Mountain, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Wilburn Rice and Beatrice Ownby Rice. She was a member of Cayce United Methodist Church. She was a 1946 graduate of Baptist Hospitals School of Nursing. Mrs. White was a member of the church choir, the Kiwanis and was a longtime volunteer for God's Helping Hands. Mrs. White was retired from DHEC. Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis W. Bolick (Thomas) of Greenville and Corrie Schuette (Al) of Leesburg, GA; son, Arthur E. White, Jr. (Cindy) of West Columbia; grandchildren, Jess Schuette, Jr. (Julie), Robert Schuette, Polly Kotowski (Brian), Viann Neikirk (Richard), Artie White, III (Malorie) Matthew Schuette, Thomas Ohlen White (Jess), Kristen Schuette and Caleb White; great grandchildren, Arthur E. White, IV, Declan Schuette, Leila White, Victoria Neikirk, and Cynthia Gail Kotowski; sister, Glennie Walker (Buster) of Kinard; brothers, Carroll Tinsley of Joanna, Robert Tinsley (Kay) of Clinton and Henry Tinsley (Cerita) of Kinard; extended family, Todd and Amber Dufries and their children, Leah, Jay Tyler and Preston. Mrs. White was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Tinsley, Myrtis Stroud and Mary B. Tinsley
