Obituary of Lois Shealy

Lois Frazier Shealy 1916 - 2012 Lois Frazier Shealy, 95, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, surrounded by her family. Born in Leesville, SC, on December 11, 1916, Lois was the daughter of James Claude and Lula Shealy Frazier. In 1937 she married the love of her life, Ira Shealy, and they shared fifty-eight years of marriage until his death in 1995. For more than sixty years, Lois has been a faithful member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where she served in many capacities. She was a devoted member of the Scatter Cheer Sunday School Class and the Mt. Tabor Ladies Aid. Among her lifelong pleasures was interior decorating, growing and cultivating ferns, and sharing lovely camellia blossoms with dear friends. Lois was an active member of the Lady Banksia Garden Club whose members have remained together for over fifty years. She was also a member of the Woodman of the World. Lois's best legacy is her generosity and gracious hospitality. She expressed her warmth with hugs. Laughter came easily, and she traveled through life with a smile. She entertained everyone with her remarkable memory and stories of her life. Lois was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Survivors are her daughters Nancy Allen and Pam McCarn and son-in-law Mike McCarn, and her grandchildren Michael McCarn, Lee McCarn, Susanne McCarn Polhill, Laurie Allen Boone, and John Ira Allen. She is also survived by nine great grandsons. Her brother James C. Frazier predeceased her. Visitation will be at the family home on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor A. Glenn Boland and Pastor Lavaughn Keisler will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Michael McCarn, Lee McCarn, John Ira Allen, Phil Frazier, John Polhill, Jay Evans, Mark Hall, Berry Gambrell, and Randy Klapman. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Scatter Cheer Sunday School Class, the Mt. Tabor Ladies Aid, and Mrs. Cecile Wingard. Memorials may be given to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, 1000 B Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeff Hook, Palmetto Health Hospice, especially Pam Long, Sylvia Watkins, Joetta Bumgarner, Ashley Burbage, June Marie Rodriquez, and our caregiver Cathy Jeffcoat for their loving care and support.
