Obituary of Jill Stouffer

Jill E. Stouffer COLUMBIA A Memorial Service for Jill E. Stouffer will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 6pm in the Chapel of the Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:30 until the hour of service in the Community Room of the funeral home. Jill Elizabeth Stouffer, 58, passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2012 after a two year challenge with appendix cancer. She was the daughter of late Donald Stouffer, Georgia Stouffer and Glennette Stouffer. After briefly attending Midlands Tech, Jill worked for the State at the Department of Youth Services, later Department of Juvenile Justice, for over 30 years ending her career there as a client advocate. She was a happily retired State Employee. Over her life time, Jill enjoyed the mountains, camping, tennis, softball, basketball, supporting the Gamecocks and was addicted to TV. She had a host of family and friends to join in these pursuits with her. Jill's favorite activity was spending time with nieces and nephews. Jill was especially grateful for the opportunity, support and journey towards a more spiritual way of life than the existence she had in her younger days. She credits this as the sustaining force in her endeavor to take life on life's terms one day at a time. Jill is survived by her very best friend and roommate Deborah Jacobs, sisters Donna Stouffer (significantly older sister), Ann Brooks (Reggie), sister-in-law Gail Huntington Hayden (Herb) and brothers Ken Stouffer and David Huntington; nephews and nieces Ted Levkoff, Seth Levkoff, Ashley Huntington Phillips, Lindsay Huntington McGuire, Benjamin Stouffer, Donald Stouffer, Maggie Brooks, and Jackson Brooks; furry children Itter Bitter, Mortimer, and Ghost along with two god furry children Payne and Sunshine. She was predeceased by brothers Lee Huntington, Fred Stouffer and nephews Trey Huntington and Scott Levkoff. In lieu of flowers, Jill requests donations to your favorite charity or to the Love In Action fund of St. Mark United Methodist Church, 3200 Lyles Street, Columbia, SC, 29201. She also requests that a packet of wildflowers or flower of your choice be distributed in her memory at a location of your choice. Much appreciation to Dr. William Butler and the staff at SCOA as well as Heartstrings Hospice, especially Alison Calvert for their care and support during this time. The Family has entrusted the Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.
