Obituary of Dorothy Jolly

COLUMBIA: Funeral services for Dorothy L. Jolly, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Walter Parham. Interment will follow at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., one hour prior to service. Mrs. Jolly, widow of Frank B. Jolly, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Born in Ward, SC, she was a daughter of the late Homer Lewis Rodgers and Susie Norris Rodgers. She worked as a dietician in her early years at Providence Hospital. Mrs. Jolly was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed reading, crocheting and doll making. Survivors are: her children, Joanne E. Vaughn, Judy P. Ellington (George), Jeanette McGowan, Veronica Lee "Bonnie" Cobb, Jerry Lee Jolly (Pat), Robert B. Jolly and Dottie Sue "Peaches" Hartness; sister, Emma Susie Rodgers Black (Jack); fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren. Mrs. Jolly was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Earline Long and brother, Leroy Rodgers.
