Obituary of Emily W. Fowler

WEST COLUMBIA—Emily "Betty" W. Fowler, 61, of West Columbia died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Agape Senior Long Term Care. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the home of Emily's son, Jason Fowler, on September 6, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Betty was born on February 13, 1951 to the late Daniel H. Wheeler and Frances W. Wheeler. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, William E. Fowler. Surviving are one sister, Dr. Fran Wheeler of West Columbia; one brother, Dan Wheeler of McClellanville, SC; sons, William Scott Fowler of Charleston, SC and Jason Matthew Fowler of Columbia; one granddaughter, Evelyn Kathleen Fowler also of Charleston, SC. Betty was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church (ELCA) of Chapin, SC. She loved gardening, cooking, music, old movies, her house by Lake Murray, fishing and watching football on Sundays. She is dearly loved by all of her friends and family. The family would like to give special thanks to Agape Hospice Care and all of the many fine caregivers that touched her life along the way. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's own choice.
