Obituary of Preston Holmes

GEORGIA-Funeral service for Preston Theodore Holmes, 92, formerly of Columbia, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012, in the Chapel at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 1:30 till 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Holmes, husband of the late Mary Holmes, died Friday, September 7, 2012. Born in Saltville, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Holmes. He was a member of Shandon Baptist. Mr. Holmes was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country proudly. Surviving are his daughter, Mary Holmes Lumpkin (Ken); son, James Holmes, Pres Holmes, Joe Holmes (Peggy), Donnie Holmes (Raelynne), and Ronnie Holmes (Paula); seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with handling the arrangements.
