Obituary of Lyth Clark

Lyth Bunyan Clark, Sr., 81, passed away at home Saturday, September 15, 2012. Mr. Clark was born December 19, 1930, in Dorchester, SC, to the late McCree and Sallie Way Clark. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina Class of 1953 with a degree in Business Administration. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 dedicated years. He was a faithful member of Shandon Baptist Church and served in many roles, including deacon. He was also a long standing member of the Ancient Free Masons (Acacia Lodge #94); the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction; and the Shiners? International (Jamil Temple). Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bettye Jane Perry Clark, as well as his brothers, Herbert Clark, Al Clark, and McCree Clark. He is survived by his companion, Ms. Wallie Gunning of Columbia; his brother, Fabra Clark of Dorchester; his children, Lyth Clark, Jr. (Deborah) of Irmo, Donovan Clark (Kanchan) of Danville, VA, Laren Clark (Linda) of Dorchester, and Sparkle Clark of Columbia; also his grandchildren, Chelsea and Abbye Clark of Dorchester, Raj and Devanand Clark of Danville, VA, Brannon Wilds (Kristen) of Chapin, William Wilds (Ashley) of Columbia; and his great grandchildren, Sophia and Brock Wilds of Chapin. A funeral service will be held at Shandon Baptist Church today, Wednesday, September 19, at 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends in the Gathering Place beginning at 1 p.m. The interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shandon Baptist Church Building Fund. Greenlawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
