Obituary of George McElwee

GASTON: Funeral service for George Harold McElwee, Sr., 62, will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Gaston, officiated by Dr. Larry Harrison and Reverend James Fanning. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this Wednesday evening, September 19, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. McElwee passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of Mary Wallace McElwee and the late Ronza McElwee. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaston. Surviving are his mother, Mary Wallace McElwee; his companion, Peggy H. Butler all of Gaston; son, George Harold McElwee, Jr. of Lumberton, NC; sister, Renonda Eubanks (Chuck) of Atlanta, GA; and three grandchildren, Luke McElwee, Geri Drawdy and Jordan Butler. Mr. McElwee was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Purcell.
