Obituary of Margie Dawson

WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Margie Padgett Dawson will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Reverend Dwight Wessinger. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 B. Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Dawson, widow of Thomas Theodore Dawson, Jr., passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Born in Smoaks, SC, she was a daughter of the late Isham and Della Padgett. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Margie was an employee of AT@T Telephone Company until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of AT&T Telephone Pioneers and a member of CWA, Communications Workers of America. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening, her pets, boating and spending weekends at her lake house in Chapin. Surviving is her daughter, Sherry Jones (John) of Mt. Pleasant; sons, Thomas T. Dawson, III (Judy) of West Columbia and Brad A. Dawson (Deborah) of Columbia; sisters, Dorene Poston of Cayce and Myrtle Hollis of Greenville; sister-in-laws, Margaret Jumper (Craig) and Emily White all of West Columbia; five grandchildren, Tom Dawson, Chris Dawson, Amber Dawson, Michelle Lee and Hannah Jones; three great grandchildren, Vera Dawson, Brittney Mitchell and Lauren Mitchell; also many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by brothers, Howell Padgett and Rudolph Padgett and sisters, Inez Donald, Mary Kirkland and Ethel "Pat" Rankin; also brother-in-law, Lamar White.
