Obituary of Andrew Bowden

WEST COLUMBIA: A graveside service for Andrew V. Bowden, 76, was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, VA. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington assisted the family. Mr. Bowden passed away Friday, September 28, 2012. Born August 21, 1936, on Ellison Ridge, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Pat Bowden and Mahala Richmond. Mr. Bowden proudly served his country in the US Air Force where he worked in aircraft maintenance until his retirement. He was the owner of Vestes LLC. Mr. Bowden is survived by his wife, Joan Wheeling Bowden; his son, Andrew V. Bowden, Jr. (Kym) of Lexington; grandchildren, Andrew V. Bowden, III and Wendy Kathleen "Kate" Bowden; sisters, Viola Mae Ledford of Oakhill, WV, and Lorine Shumate of Blacksburg, VA; brothers, Alvin G. Bowden (Carolyn) of Sumter, Carlos Earl Bowden (Bonnie) of Palm Bay, FL. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Olza Bowden, Teddy Bowden, and James Bowden; and sisters, Dolly Hatcher, Nellie Wood, Pauline Johnson and Sarah Jane Kazee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the American Lung Association.
